All Months
May through September gives you the best weather and longest days. Summer temperatures hit 25-30°C, perfect for walking around and sitting in outdoor cafes. July and August can get crowded with diaspora returning for holidays — prices rise and restaurants fill up.
Late spring and early fall are ideal. May brings blooming trees along the boulevards, while September offers warm days and cool evenings. Plus, university is back in session, so the city has maximum energy.
Winter isn't terrible if you don't mind gray skies and occasional snow. Many outdoor cafes close, but indoor spots get cozy. Hotel prices drop significantly. Just pack warm clothes — heating can be inconsistent in older buildings.
Avoid major Albanian holidays like Independence Day (February 17) unless you want to experience massive celebrations. The city essentially shuts down, but the street parties are incredible if you're into that scene.
