Puerto Escondido in April
Great time to visit
Hot and getting hotter, but still mostly dry with fewer international crowds. Good value month if you can handle the rising temperatures and don't mind sharing beaches with Mexican families during Easter.
Weather
April cranks up the heat as dry season reaches its peak intensity. Days hit 32°C with increasing humidity that makes it feel hotter. Rain remains scarce with maybe 2-3 brief afternoon showers, but the sun dominates most days.

All Months
Puerto Escondido's dry season runs November through May, and that's when you want to be here. December through February brings the biggest waves — perfect for experienced surfers but maybe too intense for swimming. March and April offer the sweet spot: smaller waves, less rain, and temperatures in the low 80s. May gets hot and humid before the rains start. The wet season from June to October sees daily afternoon downpours and rough seas. But here's a secret — September and October have the lowest prices and fewer crowds if you don't mind dodging some rain. Just avoid hurricane season peaks in August and September. The town practically shuts down during major storms.
