Sibiu in December
Not the best time
December redeems winter's harshness with enchanting Christmas markets and holiday spirit that transforms the medieval streets. Cold yes, but undeniably magical when snow dusts the old town rooftops.
Weather
December brings proper winter cold with snow becoming regular and temperatures dropping well below freezing. The city transforms into a winter postcard with snow-covered roofs and twinkling Christmas lights reflecting off icy cobblestones. Expect short days and long, cold nights.

All Months
May through September gives you the best weather and longest days. But each month has its personality.
May and June are perfect — warm days, cool nights, and everything blooming. Hotel prices stay reasonable, and you'll have the cobblestones mostly to yourself.
July and August bring the festivals. The Sibiu International Theatre Festival in June transforms the entire city into a stage. Street performances, late-night shows, and that electric festival energy. But expect crowds and higher prices.
September might be the sweet spot. Summer crowds thin out, but the weather stays warm. The autumn light makes those Saxon facades glow golden.
Winter has its charm if you don't mind cold. The Christmas market fills Piața Mare with mulled wine and handcrafts. Snow on the medieval rooftops looks magical, but many attractions close early or entirely.
Avoid late March and early April. Weather's unpredictable, and half the city seems to be under renovation after winter.
