All Months
Spring hits Sofia in April, and the city shakes off its winter gray. Temperatures climb to 18-20°C, perfect for walking the cobblestone streets without sweating through your shirt. The parks around Borisova Garden explode with cherry blossoms, and outdoor cafe terraces reopen.
Summer brings 25-28°C days and the best nightlife energy. But July and August can feel sticky, especially when you're climbing to Vitosha Mountain for day trips. The upside? Long daylight hours mean you can explore until 9 PM.
September and October offer the sweet spot — warm days, cool evenings, and fewer crowds. The leaves change color in the surrounding mountains, making those day trips to Rila Monastery even more spectacular.
Winter transforms Sofia into a different city entirely. Snow covers the domes and communist monuments, creating an almost fairy-tale atmosphere. But temperatures drop to -5°C, and some outdoor attractions close.
