Southeastern Connecticut in January

Not the best time

January isn't ideal for Southeastern Connecticut. Consider a different month.

All Months

May through October gives you the full experience, but each season has its perks. Summer means everything's open, beaches are warm, and outdoor concerts happen weekly. But also crowds, traffic, and inflated prices. I actually prefer late May or early June – weather's perfect, flowers are blooming, but summer crowds haven't arrived. September and October are magical. Foliage season here runs later than Vermont, peaking around mid-October. Plus, September water temperatures are often warmer than June. Winter has its fans. Many restaurants and attractions close, but you get the coast to yourself. The Seaport Museum stays open year-round, and a snow-covered lighthouse beats any Christmas card. Spring can be muddy and unpredictable, but April brings migrating birds and empty beaches. Just know that many seasonal places don't open until Memorial Day weekend.
