Spain in September

Great time to visit

September is one of the best months to visit Spain.

All Months

April through June is Spain's sweet spot. Temperatures hover around 75°F, Easter processions fill Seville's streets, and hotel prices haven't hit summer peaks yet. September and October bring harvest season to Rioja and perfect beach weather without the crowds. July and August? Brutal. Madrid hits 100°F regularly, and coastal cities become packed with European vacationers. But if you can handle the heat, August brings Spain's best festivals—La Tomatina in Buñol and the Running of Bulls in Pamplona happen during peak summer. Winter works for southern Spain—Seville stays mild while northern cities like Bilbao turn gray and rainy. Skip November through February unless you're skiing in the Pyrenees or chasing flamenco season in Jerez.
