Ternate in July
Great time to visit
July offers the driest weather but brings peak crowds and higher prices. The excellent conditions come with the trade-off of sharing Ternate's attractions with many Indonesian holidaymakers.
Weather
July represents peak dry season with almost zero rainfall and the lowest humidity of the year around 65%. Days are sunny and hot, but the constant ocean breeze keeps things comfortable. Night temperatures drop just enough for good sleeping.

July Tips
- •Book accommodations well in advance - July is peak Indonesian vacation time
- •Perfect conditions for camping on Mount Gamalama
- •Ferry services to outer islands run most frequently this month
All Months
April through October brings the dry season, with September and October offering the clearest skies for Gamalama volcano hikes. Avoid January through March—monsoon rains turn dirt roads into mud slides and cancel boat trips to nearby islands.
Clove harvest season runs July through September, filling the air with that Christmas cookie scent and bringing traditional festivals to villages around the island. But expect higher accommodation prices and crowded markets during peak harvest. The shoulder months of April and October give you great weather without the spice trader crowds, plus calmer seas for island hopping to Tidore.
