Spring (March-April) might be ideal—still comfortable weather but fewer crowds and better deals on accommodations. The surf is most consistent from November through March, when northern Pacific storms send steady swells to breaks like Cerritos and La Pastora. Summer gets brutally hot, with temperatures often exceeding 100°F, but it's also when you'll find the lowest prices and have beaches mostly to yourself. Hurricane season (June-November) brings occasional storms, though direct hits are rare.
