Venice in November
Not the best time
November tests your Venice devotion with frequent flooding, cold rain, and shortened daylight. But you'll experience the city's most authentic atmosphere with minimal tourist presence.
Weather
November brings Venice's infamous acqua alta season with frequent flooding in St. Mark's Square. Temperatures drop significantly and fog returns to the lagoon. Rain becomes more frequent and persistent.

All Months
Venice has two seasons: crowded and very crowded. But some times are definitely better than others.
April through June gives you the best weather without peak summer crowds. Temperatures hit 70-75°F, perfect for walking around all day. Easter brings crowds, but they're manageable compared to summer. May is probably the sweet spot — warm enough for outdoor dining, not so hot that you're sweating through every church visit.
September and October are equally good. The summer crowds thin out after Labor Day, but weather stays warm through October. Fall light is gorgeous for photography, and restaurant terraces stay open longer.
Summer (July-August) is brutal. Temperatures hit 85°F with humidity that makes it feel hotter. Cruise ships dump thousands of day-trippers into already packed squares. Hotel prices peak, and you'll wait in line for everything. But the days are long, and evening light on the canals is magical.
Winter has its own appeal if you can handle the cold and occasional flooding. December through February sees fewer tourists, lower hotel rates, and a more authentic local feel. Acqua alta (high water) happens mostly in winter — the city floods at high tide, wooden walkways go up, and locals wear rubber boots. It's part of the Venice experience, just pack accordingly.
Carnival in February brings elaborate masks and costumes, but also massive crowds and inflated prices.
