Winter transforms Whitefish into a legitimate ski destination. December through February delivers consistent snow and fewer crowds than Colorado resorts. January averages 20 degrees — cold but manageable with proper gear. The mountain gets 300+ inches annually, and lift tickets cost $89 compared to $200+ at Aspen. Shoulder seasons offer the best value. June brings wildflowers and mild weather without summer crowds. September and October showcase fall colors, though some high-elevation trails may have early snow. Many restaurants reduce hours during these periods, so check before making dinner plans.
