June kicks off festival season. Zadar Dreams brings electronic music to ancient venues, while the Full Moon Festival turns the Sea Organ into a concert hall. Hotel prices jump but the energy is infectious.
July and August are peak madness. Temperatures hit 30°C+, beaches pack with Croatian families on holiday, and sunset-watching becomes a contact sport. Book everything months ahead or prepare to pay premium prices.
But here's a secret - early October rocks. The crowds thin out, temperatures drop to a comfortable 22°C, and the sea stays warm from summer heating. Many restaurants offer autumn menus featuring truffle season ingredients.
Winter? Look, it's not beach weather, but Zadar's Christmas market in December creates magic in the old squares. Plus, you'll have those Roman ruins practically to yourself.
