May through October is prime time — dry season means animals gather at water sources and roads stay passable. July and August bring perfect weather but higher prices and crowds at Victoria Falls. The shoulder months of May and October offer great deals with excellent conditions. November through April is rainy season — some lodges close, roads become impassable, but Victoria Falls reaches peak power and everything turns green. Walking safaris work best June through September when grass stays low. For white-water rafting, go August through December when Zambezi levels drop and rapids get wild.
