Andaman Islands in August

Not the best time

August offers no relief from monsoon misery with continued storms and flooding. Tourism infrastructure barely functions, making this one of the worst times to visit.

Weather

August maintains heavy monsoon patterns with frequent storms and extremely rough seas. Rainfall remains consistent and intense, though occasional breaks provide brief respites. Outdoor activities remain largely impossible.

August Tips

  • Flight schedules become highly unpredictable due to weather
  • Stock up on essentials as supply chains get disrupted
  • Consider this month only if you're doing research or have specific business

All Months

November through April delivers perfect weather - sunny days, calm seas, and minimal rainfall. December and January see the most crowds and highest prices, but also the most reliable conditions. The water temperature stays around 28°C (82°F) year-round, so you're always comfortable swimming. February through April offers the sweet spot: great weather with fewer tourists and better hotel rates. May marks the beginning of monsoon season, when most water activities shut down and many resorts close. The islands essentially go into hibernation from May to September. October can be tricky - officially post-monsoon, but storms still pop up. If you're planning around specific activities, time it right. Turtle nesting season runs December to February at Kalipur Beach on Diglipur Island. Coral spawning happens in March and April, creating incredible underwater visibility. But here's the thing about weather in the tropics: it changes fast. Even in peak season, afternoon thunderstorms can roll in. Pack a light rain jacket and flexible plans.
