Chongqing in April

Great time to visit

Peak spring weather makes April one of the best months to visit. Everything feels fresh, the air clears up, and outdoor activities become genuinely enjoyable.

Weather

April delivers some of Chongqing's most pleasant weather. Temperatures hit the goldilocks zone - warm enough for comfort, cool enough to walk the steep streets without melting. Humidity settles around 65%, and while rain still comes regularly, it's often brief afternoon showers.

April Tips

  • Book accommodations early for marathon weekend - hotels fill up quickly
  • Cherry blossoms peak at Nanshan and Eling Park
  • Perfect weather for the Yangtze River cable car rides

All Months

Spring and fall are your sweet spots - March through May and September through November. Temperatures hover around 15-25°C and the infamous Chongqing fog lifts enough for decent photos. Summer is brutal. We're talking 35-40°C with humidity that'll melt your phone. But if you can handle the heat, hotel prices drop 40% and you'll have attractions mostly to yourself. Winter brings the fog back with a vengeance. December through February sees temperatures around 5-12°C and visibility measured in meters, not kilometers. It's atmospheric but frustrating for sightseeing. Chinese holidays like Golden Week in October mean crowds and higher prices. Book everything in advance or avoid entirely.
