Chongqing in May
Great time to visit
The last hurrah of comfortable weather before summer heat kicks in. Still excellent for sightseeing, but you can feel the furnace warming up.
Weather
May cranks up the heat but stays manageable before summer's brutal assault. Temperatures climb steadily, and humidity starts its march toward oppressive levels at 70%. Rain becomes less frequent but more intense when it hits - think sudden downpours that flood streets for an hour.

All Months
Spring and fall are your sweet spots - March through May and September through November. Temperatures hover around 15-25°C and the infamous Chongqing fog lifts enough for decent photos. Summer is brutal. We're talking 35-40°C with humidity that'll melt your phone. But if you can handle the heat, hotel prices drop 40% and you'll have attractions mostly to yourself. Winter brings the fog back with a vengeance. December through February sees temperatures around 5-12°C and visibility measured in meters, not kilometers. It's atmospheric but frustrating for sightseeing. Chinese holidays like Golden Week in October mean crowds and higher prices. Book everything in advance or avoid entirely.
