East Nusa Tenggara in June

Great time to visit

June represents peak conditions but also peak crowds as Indonesian families flood in for school holidays. The weather is absolutely perfect, but you'll pay premium prices and share those Instagram shots.

Weather

June brings bone-dry conditions with virtually no rainfall and constant trade winds that keep temperatures feeling reasonable despite 35°C highs. Humidity drops to its lowest point at 60%, making even midday activities tolerable. Nights cool down to a pleasant 25°C.

June Tips

  • Book everything well ahead - June kicks off peak domestic tourism season
  • Carry water constantly - the dry heat is deceptive and dehydration hits fast
  • Perfect conditions for photography with crystal clear skies and dramatic landscapes

All Months

April through September offers the sweet spot – dry skies, calm seas, and dragons basking in perfect weather. Peak season hits July and August when European families invade, driving up prices and crowding boat tours. May and September provide the best balance of good weather and smaller crowds. April works too, but occasional rain showers linger from wet season. October through March brings heavy rains that cancel boat trips and turn roads into mud rivers. Dry season also means better diving visibility around Komodo – you'll actually see the manta rays instead of murky water. But temperatures soar, especially on Sumba where shade becomes precious. Book accommodations early for July and August. Many guesthouses close during rainy season, leaving fewer options when weather clears.
