Winter lasts from November through March with temperatures dropping to -20°C. But the snow transforms the city into something magical, and you'll have attractions to yourself. The Ice Castles at Hawrelak Park operate January through March. Spring arrives late — April still sees snow, but May brings blooming crocuses and longer days. Avoid the shoulder seasons if you're here for outdoor activities. The river valley trails get muddy, and many festivals pause until summer returns.
