Ende in July
Great time to visit
July offers Ende's most spectacular weather conditions but comes with peak-season crowds and prices. If you can handle the tourist circus, you'll see the destination at its most photogenic.
Weather
July delivers the driest conditions of the year with almost zero rainfall and low humidity that makes the heat very bearable. Nights can actually feel cool, especially at higher elevations around Kelimutu. Visibility reaches its peak this month.

July Tips
- •This is absolute peak season - expect 50% higher prices for everything
- •Wake up at 4am for Kelimutu trips to beat the tour bus crowds
- •Book domestic flights 3 months ahead or face severe price spikes
All Months
Ende's dry season runs April through September, making it the clear winner for travel timing. May and June offer the sweet spot with minimal rain and comfortable temperatures around 27°C. July and August bring more crowds to Kelimutu but still manageable numbers compared to Bali. September can be windy but perfect for boat trips to Komodo. Avoid October through March when heavy rains turn Kelimutu roads into muddy nightmares and flight delays become common. The wet season also means cloudy mornings at the crater lakes, defeating the purpose of that 4 AM wake-up call. Ende's location near the equator means temperatures stay consistent year-round, but humidity spikes during rainy months. Book accommodations well ahead for July and August when Indonesian families take school holidays. April offers the best value with dry weather and lower prices.
