The Ghent Festival in July transforms the entire city center into one massive street party for 10 days. Temperatures reach 20-25°C, perfect for canal-side drinking. But book accommodation months ahead during festival time. Early fall (September) might be the sweet spot. Students return, bringing energy back to the bars and streets. Weather stays mild at 15-20°C, and summer crowds disappear. The light during golden hour makes those medieval buildings look like movie sets. Winter has its charms if you don't mind 5-10°C temperatures and occasional rain. Christmas markets fill Korenmarkt, and fewer tourists mean you'll have those Instagram spots to yourself.
