Glasgow in August

Great time to visit

Still prime visiting weather though slightly wetter than July. Edinburgh Festival proximity makes accommodation competitive, but Glasgow's own events shine.

Weather

August maintains July's warm temperatures but rain starts creeping back. Summer storms can be dramatic but brief, clearing quickly to sunny skies. Still plenty of daylight for evening activities around the city center.

All Months

May through September gives you the best weather odds, though 'best' in Glasgow means 15°C and only occasional rain. July and August see the most tourists and highest hotel prices, but also the longest days — sunset doesn't happen until after 9pm. September hits the sweet spot. Students return to give the city its proper energy, but summer crowds thin out. The weather stays decent, and you'll catch the tail end of festival season. Winter in Glasgow is properly grim — dark by 4pm and wet most days. But if you don't mind the weather, hotel prices drop significantly, and the pub atmosphere gets even cozier. Plus, indoor venues like the Royal Concert Hall and Theatre Royal keep the cultural calendar packed.
