Glastonbury in December
Not the best time
December offers winter solitude broken only by solstice pilgrims. Cold, wet, and mostly closed, but magical for those who embrace the season.
Weather
December brings full winter conditions with highs of 8°C and lows around 3°C. Rain falls on about 14 days, sometimes mixing with sleet on the higher ground around the Tor. Frost becomes common on clear nights.

All Months
Glastonbury happens once every few years – usually in late June when the summer solstice energy is still buzzing. The 2026 dates haven't been officially announced, but expect the last weekend of June based on previous patterns. Weather is completely unpredictable. I've seen blazing sun and torrential rain in the same afternoon. The festival takes a fallow year every fifth year to let the land recover, so when tickets go on sale, grab them. They sell out in under an hour. Registration opens months before ticket sales – sign up early. The gates open Wednesday afternoon, and smart festival-goers arrive early to set up camp before the crowds. Sunday night is when the magic really happens – smaller crowds, intimate performances, and that bittersweet feeling of the weekend ending.
