Huangshan in February
Not the best time
February is the tail end of winter's grip on Huangshan. You'll have the mountains mostly to yourself, but weather can be unpredictable and some services remain closed from holiday season.
Weather
February remains bitterly cold with regular frost and snow flurries. The humidity stays low but persistent fog can block mountain views for days. Late February starts showing the first hints of spring.

All Months
Spring and fall deliver the best weather and clearest views. April and May bring blooming azaleas and comfortable temperatures around 15-20°C. September and October offer crisp air and the highest chance of seeing the famous cloud sea phenomenon. Summer is hot, humid, and packed with domestic tourists — avoid July and August unless you enjoy crowds and afternoon thunderstorms. Winter has its own magic with snow-capped peaks and fewer visitors, but many trails close due to ice. The cloud sea appears most often after rain, typically early morning between 6-9am. Check weather forecasts before your trip — clouds can obscure views for days. Peak season runs from April through October, so book accommodation well ahead. Golden Week holidays in early May and October turn the mountain into a human traffic jam.
