Kandy in October
Not the best time
The wettest month of the year with near-daily deluges. Even the lowest prices can't compensate for the miserable weather that makes sightseeing almost impossible.
Weather
October brings the dreaded inter-monsoon period with the highest rainfall of the year. Temperatures reach 30°C but almost daily torrential rains make outdoor activities nearly impossible. Humidity stays crushing at 85%.

All Months
December through April offers the best weather – warm days around 28°C and cool evenings perfect for temple visits. This is peak season, so book accommodation early and expect higher prices.
The southwest monsoon hits May through September, bringing afternoon downpours and humidity. But here's the thing: the rain usually comes in short, heavy bursts. You can still sightsee if you time it right and carry an umbrella.
October and November see intermittent showers as the northeast monsoon begins. It's actually a lovely time to visit – fewer crowds, green landscapes, and hotels offer discounts.
Avoid the Esala Perahera festival in July/August unless you book months ahead. This 10-day celebration fills every hotel room and sends prices through the roof. But if you do make it, the procession of decorated elephants and traditional dancers is spectacular.
