Kinshasa in December
Not the best time
December combines holiday festivities with punishing weather that'll test your endurance. The heat and constant rain make this one of the most challenging months to visit Kinshasa.
Weather
December delivers full wet season conditions with sweltering heat and daily thunderstorms. Humidity reaches suffocating levels and streets frequently flood. The combination of heat and constant moisture makes everything feel sticky and oppressive.

All Months
May through August offers the sweet spot — dry season means fewer torrential downpours and more reliable transportation. Temperatures hover around 75-80°F, perfect for walking Gombe's streets or catching outdoor concerts.
The rainy season (October-April) turns roads into rivers and makes getting around a nightmare. But it's also when the city feels most alive — musicians play intimate club shows, and the Congo River swells dramatically. Just pack waterproof everything.
Avoid March entirely. It's peak rainy season, humidity hits 90%, and half the city floods. December brings holiday celebrations and Papa Wemba tribute concerts, but also crowds and inflated prices. The dry season months also coincide with festival season — FEMUA (Festival de Musique Urbaine d'Anoumabo) draws artists from across francophone Africa.
