Marrakech in August
Not the best time
Another month of extreme heat that tests even heat-tolerant travelers. August offers the year's lowest prices but demands serious planning around the oppressive temperatures.
Weather
August maintains July's punishing heat with temperatures reaching 38°C and nights barely cooling to 24°C. The relentless sun and bone-dry air create desert-like conditions. Dust storms occasionally sweep through the city.

August Tips
- •Absolutely avoid midday activities in the medina
- •Many restaurants and some riads close for summer holidays
- •Consider this month only if you're combining with cooler Atlas Mountain stays
All Months
October through April offers the sweet spot for weather. Daytime temperatures hover around 22-26°C, perfect for medina wandering and terrace dining. Nights can get chilly in December and January – pack a jacket for those rooftop dinners.
March and April bring almond blossoms to the nearby Atlas Mountains, making it prime time for day trips to Imlil or Ourika Valley. Hotel prices stay reasonable except during Easter week.
Avoid July and August unless you enjoy 45°C heat and melting into the pavement. Many locals flee to the coast during summer, and some restaurants close for vacation. If you must visit in summer, book accommodations with pools and plan indoor activities during midday hours.
Ramadan shifts the city's rhythm completely. Restaurants close during daylight hours, but the evening iftar celebrations in Jemaa el-Fnaa become even more festive. It's culturally fascinating but requires flexibility with meal planning.
