Marrakech in September

Good time to visit

September offers the first relief from summer's peak heat but remains challenging. Smart travelers wait until October, but September works for pool-focused trips.

Weather

September begins the gradual cooling with temperatures dropping to a more manageable 34°C, though it still feels hot. Nights finally become pleasant at 20°C. The first hints of humidity may appear as weather patterns shift.

  • Late September sees the first tourists returning

All Months

October through April offers the sweet spot for weather. Daytime temperatures hover around 22-26°C, perfect for medina wandering and terrace dining. Nights can get chilly in December and January – pack a jacket for those rooftop dinners. March and April bring almond blossoms to the nearby Atlas Mountains, making it prime time for day trips to Imlil or Ourika Valley. Hotel prices stay reasonable except during Easter week. Avoid July and August unless you enjoy 45°C heat and melting into the pavement. Many locals flee to the coast during summer, and some restaurants close for vacation. If you must visit in summer, book accommodations with pools and plan indoor activities during midday hours. Ramadan shifts the city's rhythm completely. Restaurants close during daylight hours, but the evening iftar celebrations in Jemaa el-Fnaa become even more festive. It's culturally fascinating but requires flexibility with meal planning.
