Naples in February

Good time to visit

February offers authentic Naples life with Carnevale adding some theatrical flair. Still quiet enough for spontaneous exploring, but pack for changeable weather.

Weather

February stays cool but starts showing signs of spring with slightly warmer afternoons. Expect around 9-10 rainy days with typical Mediterranean winter patterns - sudden showers followed by clear skies. Humidity stays comfortable and the tramontana wind can make it feel colder than it is.

February Tips

  • Carnevale means crowded streets in the historic center, plan accordingly
  • Bring a windproof jacket for the waterfront areas
  • Restaurant reservations are easier to get except during Carnevale weekend

All Months

April through June brings perfect weather without summer crowds. Temperatures hit 20-25°C, and you can actually walk around comfortably. Easter processions add drama to the already theatrical streets. September and October offer similar conditions with the bonus of harvest season. Local restaurants showcase fresh ingredients, and the summer tourists have mostly fled. Summer gets brutally hot and crowded. July and August see temperatures pushing 35°C with humidity that makes exploring exhausting. But the evening passeggiata along the waterfront becomes magical, and late dinners under the stars make up for sweaty afternoons. Winter stays mild but unpredictable. December through February brings rain and occasional cold snaps, but also fewer tourists and cozy trattorias with hearty soups. Christmas markets in Spaccanapoli create festive atmosphere.
