Pokhara in July

Not the best time

July is monsoon at its most intense - constant rain, zero mountain views, and high humidity. Only visit if you're specifically interested in experiencing Nepal's wet season or getting rock-bottom prices.

Weather

July delivers the heaviest monsoon rains with intense downpours that can last for hours. Humidity reaches uncomfortable levels and temperatures stay warm despite the cloud cover. Mountain views are virtually non-existent most days.

July Tips

  • Consider this month only if you're fascinated by monsoon weather
  • Many trekking routes become dangerous due to landslides
  • Lakeside restaurants offer great deals but check for leaks before sitting

All Months

October through April gives you clear skies and visible mountains — crucial when the peaks are the main attraction. October and November are peak season, meaning crowds and higher prices, but also perfect weather for trekking. December through February brings crisp mornings and warm afternoons. You'll need layers for early morning mountain views, but by noon you're back in t-shirts. This is shoulder season, so better deals on accommodation. March and April warm up nicely, with rhododendrons blooming in the hills. The air gets hazier as summer approaches, but mountains stay visible most days. Avoid May through September unless you love monsoon rain and cloud-covered peaks. The mountains disappear behind clouds for weeks at a time, and trekking becomes muddy misery.
