San Clemente in February
Not the best time
February strikes a nice balance between winter's calm and spring's energy. The weather's getting more reliable, crowds stay minimal, and you're still paying off-season prices.
Weather
February continues the mild winter pattern with more consistent sunshine than January. Morning marine layers still roll in, but they clear faster. Rain becomes less frequent, though when storms do hit, they can be substantial.

February Tips
- •This is actually one of the best months for hiking the coastal trails - cool but not cold
- •Restaurant reservations are easy to get, even at popular spots like Fisherman's Restaurant
- •Bring a rain jacket just in case - February storms can surprise you
All Months
April through October brings the best weather, but each season has its personality. Spring offers the most consistent surf and fewer crowds. The marine layer burns off earlier, giving you more sunshine.
Summer means peak season everything — packed beaches, higher prices, and traffic on PCH. But the water warms up to actually swimmable temperatures, and the town comes alive with festivals and outdoor concerts.
Fall might be the secret sweet spot. September and October deliver warm days, smaller crowds, and some of the year's best surf. The Santa Ana winds can make things hot and dry, but they also create those crystal-clear days when you can see Catalina Island.
Winter isn't written off entirely. The storms bring bigger swells for experienced surfers, and hotel rates drop significantly. Just pack layers — morning fog can keep things cool until noon.
