São Paulo in February
Not the best time
February brings Carnaval energy to the city, but the heat and humidity make street celebrations feel like endurance tests. The party atmosphere is infectious, just prepare to sweat through it.
Weather
February continues the punishing summer heat with slightly less rain than January, but the humidity still clings to you like a damp shirt. The mornings start muggy and only get worse as the day progresses. Afternoon thunderstorms are common but brief.

February Tips
- •Carnaval means higher prices and crowded public transport - plan accordingly
- •Many businesses close during Carnaval week, so check opening hours
- •The blocos (street parties) in Vila Madalena are more authentic than the touristy ones
All Months
April through September is your sweet spot. The weather is cooler and drier, perfect for walking around the city without melting. July can get surprisingly chilly (bring a jacket), but it's also when the cultural calendar explodes — film festivals, art exhibitions, and music events everywhere. October through March is summer, which means heat, humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms that can flood the streets. But the energy is electric during Carnaval season (February/March), even though São Paulo's celebration is more underground than Rio's. Avoid December and January if possible — half the city evacuates to the coast, and many restaurants close. The shoulder months of April and September offer the best balance of good weather and manageable crowds.
