All Months
Tromsø operates on two completely different schedules. Northern Lights season runs from late September through March, with the darkest months — November through January — offering the best Aurora viewing. Temperatures hover around -5°C to -15°C, and you'll get about 4 hours of twilight daily in December. But the midnight sun season from May through July transforms everything. The sun circles the sky without setting from May 20 to July 22. Hiking trails open up. Festivals fill the streets. And you can kayak at 2 AM under golden light that never fades. October and April are shoulder seasons with fewer crowds but unpredictable weather. March offers the best of both worlds — still dark enough for Northern Lights but warmer temperatures around -2°C and longer days for outdoor activities.
