Great time to visit

September offers summer warmth without summer suffering. Crowds start thinning, prices begin dropping, and the weather becomes genuinely pleasant again.

Weather

September brings blessed relief with temperatures dropping to a comfortable 27°C and humidity finally easing. The first real rain in months might appear, but it's usually brief and welcome. Sea temperatures remain perfect for swimming at 24°C.

All Months

April through June offers Valletta at its best — warm enough for outdoor dining but not yet scorching. The limestone streets stay comfortable for walking, and hotel prices haven't hit summer peaks. May brings the Malta International Arts Festival, filling the baroque churches with concerts and performances. September through November delivers similar weather with fewer crowds and that perfect Mediterranean light photographers love. December can be surprisingly pleasant — Christmas decorations transform Republic Street, and you might catch a rare sunny day perfect for harbor walks. But avoid July and August unless you enjoy feeling like a roasted almond. Temperatures hit 35°C, the narrow streets trap heat like ovens, and cruise ship crowds make movement difficult. Winter brings occasional rain and cooler temperatures, but most attractions stay open and you'll have the Upper Barrakka Gardens almost to yourself.
