Arusha in May
Not the best time
Still challenging with frequent rains and limited safari options. Better than April but not by much - save your money and come during dry season unless you're specifically here for the lush landscapes.
Weather
May continues the long rains though intensity usually decreases toward month's end. Expect muddy roads, high humidity, and frequent afternoon storms. The upside? Everything is incredibly green and dust-free.

- •Mosquito activity peaks - bring serious repellent and long sleeves
All Months
June through October brings dry weather and the Great Migration. This is peak safari season, which means higher prices and crowded game drives. But the wildlife viewing is spectacular. January and February offer another dry window with fewer tourists and lower costs. The wildebeest calving happens in the southern Serengeti during this time. March through May brings heavy rains that turn roads to rivers. Many camps close, and the ones that stay open offer deep discounts. November can be tricky — short rains might start early or late. The weather in Arusha itself stays relatively stable year-round thanks to the altitude. Daytime temperatures hover around 75°F, dropping to 55°F at night. Pack layers regardless of when you visit.
