Comoros Islands in August

Great time to visit

August offers the best combination of perfect weather and incredible wildlife viewing. The only downside is sharing paradise with more fellow travelers and paying peak prices.

Weather

August continues the dry season excellence with consistently beautiful weather and the coolest nights you'll experience. Trade winds keep things comfortable during the day, while evenings can actually feel chilly by tropical standards.

All Months

The dry season from May to October delivers the best weather, with temperatures around 25°C (77°F) and minimal rainfall. This is peak season for hiking Karthala volcano – the trails are passable and the views aren't obscured by clouds. Flights and hotels cost about 20% more during these months. July through September brings the best diving conditions, with calm seas and excellent visibility. But it's also when French tourists arrive for their summer holidays, so book accommodation early. The ylang-ylang flowers bloom during this period, filling the air with their intoxicating perfume. Avoid January through March unless you enjoy tropical storms. The cyclone season brings heavy rains, rough seas, and occasional flight cancellations. Hotels often close for maintenance during February. But if you can handle the weather, you'll have the islands almost entirely to yourself, and prices drop by up to 40%.
