Hormuz Island in September

Not the best time

September shows the first signs of summer's retreat, but it's still far too hot for most visitors. The slight temperature drop provides psychological relief more than practical comfort.

Weather

September offers the first hint of relief with temperatures dropping to 40°C during the day and 30°C at night. While still brutally hot, the slight decrease feels meaningful after the summer peak. Humidity remains high, and rain stays absent.

September Tips

  • Still too hot for comfortable sightseeing
  • Early morning hours become slightly more tolerable
  • Wait another month or two for genuinely pleasant conditions

All Months

November through March offers the sweet spot. Temperatures hover around 20-25°C during the day, perfect for hiking around the colored mountains. The humidity drops too, making everything more comfortable. December and January are peak season for Iranian tourists escaping Tehran's winter. Book accommodations early and expect higher prices. But the weather's ideal — sunny days, cool nights, minimal rain. April gets tricky. Still pleasant in the mornings, but afternoon temperatures start climbing toward 30°C. May through October is brutal — temperatures hit 40°C with crushing humidity. The colored rocks become too hot to touch. Winter storms can cancel ferries, so have flexible travel dates. Check weather forecasts before heading to Bandar Abbas because getting stuck on the mainland isn't fun.
