Hvar in February

Not the best time

February offers the same winter solitude as January but with slightly better weather and blooming almond trees. Still too cold for swimming, but perfect for budget travelers who don't mind bundling up.

Weather

February remains chilly and damp with occasional sunny breaks that hint at warmer days ahead. Rain falls on about half the days, often as brief but heavy downpours. Daytime temperatures reach around 12°C while nights stay cold at 5°C.

February Tips

  • This is peak almond blossom season - the countryside around Stari Grad looks stunning
  • Book accommodations carefully as many places remain closed until March
  • Take advantage of extremely cheap ferry tickets and empty boats for island hopping

All Months

July and August bring the heat – both temperature-wise and party-wise. Expect 30°C days, packed beaches, and nightlife that doesn't quit until sunrise. This is peak season for good reason, but also peak prices and crowds. June and September are the sweet spot. You get 25°C weather, swimmable seas, and most places open, but without the August madness. Hotel prices drop by about 30% compared to peak summer. May works if you don't mind cooler water (around 20°C). The lavender starts blooming, creating those Instagram-worthy purple fields. Some beach clubs might not be open yet, but the island feels more authentic. Avoid October through April unless you're here for complete solitude. Most tourist facilities close, ferry schedules reduce dramatically, and while the weather can be pleasant, you'll find a very different – and much quieter – Hvar.
