Hvar in October

Good time to visit

October offers a gentler side of Hvar with pleasant weather, manageable crowds, and reasonable prices. Swimming becomes questionable but sightseeing weather stays lovely through most of the month.

Weather

October brings mild autumn days averaging 20°C with cool 13°C nights that require a light jacket. Rain increases to about 7 days monthly, often as gentle showers rather than downpours. The sea remains swimmable at 19°C for those who don't mind cooler water.

October Tips

  • Pack layers as temperature swings between day and night become significant
  • Many beach clubs and seasonal restaurants close after first week of October
  • Great month for cycling and hiking with comfortable temperatures

All Months

July and August bring the heat – both temperature-wise and party-wise. Expect 30°C days, packed beaches, and nightlife that doesn't quit until sunrise. This is peak season for good reason, but also peak prices and crowds. June and September are the sweet spot. You get 25°C weather, swimmable seas, and most places open, but without the August madness. Hotel prices drop by about 30% compared to peak summer. May works if you don't mind cooler water (around 20°C). The lavender starts blooming, creating those Instagram-worthy purple fields. Some beach clubs might not be open yet, but the island feels more authentic. Avoid October through April unless you're here for complete solitude. Most tourist facilities close, ferry schedules reduce dramatically, and while the weather can be pleasant, you'll find a very different – and much quieter – Hvar.
