Lanzarote in June

Good time to visit

June marks the transition to summer with rising temperatures and crowds. Still manageable heat but you'll need to adjust your schedule to avoid the midday sun.

Weather

June brings the first taste of summer heat with temperatures climbing noticeably. Trade winds provide relief, but inland areas like Timanfaya can get seriously hot by midday. Humidity creeps up slightly, and rain remains almost non-existent.

Events & Festivals

  • Fiesta de San Juan (June 24)
  • Corpus Christi celebrations
  • Beginning of summer festival season

June Tips

  • Start activities early - by noon the black volcanic rocks are too hot to touch
  • San Juan beach parties in Tinajo are worth experiencing but book accommodation well ahead
  • Air conditioning becomes necessary rather than nice-to-have

All Months

March through May gives you perfect weather without European school holiday crowds. Temperatures hover around 22°C, the volcanic landscape turns green after winter rains, and hotel prices drop 30% from peak season. September through November works equally well – the ocean reaches its warmest at 24°C and you'll have beaches mostly to yourself. Avoid July and August when Spanish families arrive en masse and temperatures can hit 35°C. The volcanic rocks amplify heat, making hiking uncomfortable during midday. December through February brings cooler weather around 18°C, but also the strongest winds and occasional rain. Perfect for surfers at Famara Beach, less ideal for beach lounging. The island gets 300 days of sunshine annually, so rain rarely lasts more than a few hours. Trade winds blow year-round, keeping humidity low but making it feel cooler than the actual temperature.
