Not the best time
Still firmly in rainy season but marginally more bearable than January. The city celebrates Heroes Day with genuine pride, giving you a taste of Mozambican culture without the tourist crowds.
Weather
February keeps the rain coming but dials back the intensity slightly from January's deluge. Expect 10-11 rainy days with sticky humidity that clings to your skin. The Indian Ocean stays warm at 27°C, perfect for quick cooling dips.

All Months
April through October is your sweet spot. The dry season means less humidity, minimal rain, and temperatures that hover around a comfortable 25°C (77°F). July and August are the coolest months, perfect for walking around the city without melting.
December through March brings the rains and serious heat. We're talking 35°C+ (95°F+) with humidity that makes everything feel sticky. The afternoon thunderstorms are spectacular but brief. If you don't mind the weather, this is low season – fewer tourists, better hotel deals.
Easter week gets busy with South African visitors escaping their autumn. Book accommodation early if you're planning to visit then. The same goes for December holidays when regional tourism picks up.
Cyclone season runs November through April, though Maputo rarely takes direct hits. Still, flights can get cancelled and ferry services disrupted. Check weather forecasts if you're traveling during these months.
