Maputo in March
Not the best time
March teases you with glimpses of dry season but still throws curveballs. It's transition month limbo - not quite wet, not quite dry, but definitely still cheap.
Weather
March marks the tail end of cyclone season with unpredictable weather swings. You'll get 8-9 rainy days but storms are less predictable - sometimes three dry days, then a week of drizzle. Humidity starts dropping slightly.

All Months
April through October is your sweet spot. The dry season means less humidity, minimal rain, and temperatures that hover around a comfortable 25°C (77°F). July and August are the coolest months, perfect for walking around the city without melting.
December through March brings the rains and serious heat. We're talking 35°C+ (95°F+) with humidity that makes everything feel sticky. The afternoon thunderstorms are spectacular but brief. If you don't mind the weather, this is low season – fewer tourists, better hotel deals.
Easter week gets busy with South African visitors escaping their autumn. Book accommodation early if you're planning to visit then. The same goes for December holidays when regional tourism picks up.
Cyclone season runs November through April, though Maputo rarely takes direct hits. Still, flights can get cancelled and ferry services disrupted. Check weather forecasts if you're traveling during these months.
