Naxos in December
Not the best time
December returns Naxos to the locals with winter weather and limited tourist services. You'll experience authentic island life, but at the cost of convenience and comfort.
Weather
December brings winter weather with frequent rain and cooler temperatures. Expect overcast skies, strong winds, and about 10 rainy days. Humidity rises and the sea becomes rough for ferry travel.

- •Focus on Naxos Town (Chora) where a few tavernas stay open year-round
All Months
May and October offer the sweet spot - warm enough for swimming, cool enough for hiking, and hotel prices drop by 40% compared to peak summer. Water temperature hits 20°C by May and stays swimmable through October.
June through September brings guaranteed sunshine but also crowds and higher prices. July and August see temperatures reaching 35°C, and the meltemi winds can make beach days challenging. But this is also when everything stays open late and the island buzzes with energy.
Winter shuts down most tourist infrastructure, but locals say January and February offer the most dramatic scenery with stormy seas and snow-capped mountains. Only a few tavernas stay open, and ferry schedules get reduced to 2-3 times per week.
April can be hit or miss - some years bring perfect 25°C days, others stay cool and windy. Easter celebrations make it worth the gamble if you don't mind potentially chilly beach weather.
