Naxos in June
Great time to visit
June marks the start of peak season with reliably gorgeous weather and lively nightlife. Expect crowded beaches and higher prices, but also that classic Greek island energy.
Weather
June brings consistently hot, dry weather with the famous meltemi winds starting to kick in during afternoons. Virtually no rain and sunshine most days. Sea temperature climbs to a comfortable 22°C for swimming.

Events & Festivals

- •Feast of St. Peter and Paul (June 29)
June Tips
- •Book hotels 3 months ahead - this is when European summer holidays begin
- •Morning beach visits beat the afternoon crowds and wind
- •Stock up on sunscreen - UV levels are intense and prices inflate in tourist areas
All Months
May and October offer the sweet spot - warm enough for swimming, cool enough for hiking, and hotel prices drop by 40% compared to peak summer. Water temperature hits 20°C by May and stays swimmable through October.
June through September brings guaranteed sunshine but also crowds and higher prices. July and August see temperatures reaching 35°C, and the meltemi winds can make beach days challenging. But this is also when everything stays open late and the island buzzes with energy.
Winter shuts down most tourist infrastructure, but locals say January and February offer the most dramatic scenery with stormy seas and snow-capped mountains. Only a few tavernas stay open, and ferry schedules get reduced to 2-3 times per week.
April can be hit or miss - some years bring perfect 25°C days, others stay cool and windy. Easter celebrations make it worth the gamble if you don't mind potentially chilly beach weather.
