Ninh Bình in February
Great time to visit
February might be the sweet spot - ideal weather, manageable crowds, and post-Tet energy returning to the region. The limestone karsts look their most dramatic wrapped in morning mist.
Weather
February extends the dry season with slightly warmer days and cool nights. Morning mist often wraps around the limestone peaks, creating dramatic photo ops. Rain is rare, though occasional brief showers keep the rice paddies green.

All Months
October through April is your sweet spot. The weather stays dry, temperatures hover around 20-25°C, and you can actually enjoy those boat rides without melting. December and January get chilly — pack a jacket for early morning temple visits.
May through September brings heat and humidity that'll have you questioning your life choices. Plus, the summer rains can flood the low-lying areas and cancel boat tours. I learned this the hard way in July 2023.
Rice harvest season (September-October) offers golden paddies that look incredible in photos, but the weather starts getting unpredictable. Spring (March-April) gives you the best of both worlds: good weather and fresh green rice shoots.
Avoid Vietnamese holidays like Tet (January/February) and National Day (September 2) unless you enjoy crowds and inflated prices.
