Ninh Bình in October
Great time to visit
October marks the glorious return of comfortable weather after months of tropical punishment. You'll actually want to spend full days exploring instead of hiding in air conditioning.
Weather
October finally delivers blessed relief with cooler temperatures and decreasing humidity. Rain becomes less frequent and intense. Days feel genuinely pleasant again, especially mornings and evenings in the limestone valleys.

All Months
October through April is your sweet spot. The weather stays dry, temperatures hover around 20-25°C, and you can actually enjoy those boat rides without melting. December and January get chilly — pack a jacket for early morning temple visits.
May through September brings heat and humidity that'll have you questioning your life choices. Plus, the summer rains can flood the low-lying areas and cancel boat tours. I learned this the hard way in July 2023.
Rice harvest season (September-October) offers golden paddies that look incredible in photos, but the weather starts getting unpredictable. Spring (March-April) gives you the best of both worlds: good weather and fresh green rice shoots.
Avoid Vietnamese holidays like Tet (January/February) and National Day (September 2) unless you enjoy crowds and inflated prices.
