September offers the first glimpse of recovery from summer's intensity. Still hot and wet, but you might actually enjoy those early morning boat rides through the flooded rice paddies.

September begins hinting at relief with slightly less oppressive heat, though humidity remains high. Rain continues frequently but storms may be shorter. Mornings start feeling more tolerable for outdoor activities.

All Months
October through April is your sweet spot. The weather stays dry, temperatures hover around 20-25°C, and you can actually enjoy those boat rides without melting. December and January get chilly — pack a jacket for early morning temple visits.
May through September brings heat and humidity that'll have you questioning your life choices. Plus, the summer rains can flood the low-lying areas and cancel boat tours. I learned this the hard way in July 2023.
Rice harvest season (September-October) offers golden paddies that look incredible in photos, but the weather starts getting unpredictable. Spring (March-April) gives you the best of both worlds: good weather and fresh green rice shoots.
Avoid Vietnamese holidays like Tet (January/February) and National Day (September 2) unless you enjoy crowds and inflated prices.
