Great time to visit
Weather starts improving significantly, though typhoons can disrupt plans. When it's clear, you get some of the year's most dramatic views across the Seto Inland Sea.
Weather
September offers blessed relief as humidity drops and temperatures become manageable again. Typhoon season brings 10-11 rain days, some potentially heavy, but clear days are gorgeous with crystal-clear views.

All Months
Spring and fall offer the best weather for temple hopping. Cherry blossoms peak in early April, turning the hillside temples into something from a postcard. But here's the thing – everyone knows this, so expect crowds.
Late May through early June brings perfect temperatures without the tourist buses. The rainy season starts in mid-June, making temple steps slippery and outdoor activities less appealing.
Autumn colors arrive in November, painting the maple trees around Senkoji Temple in brilliant reds. The weather stays mild enough for comfortable walking, and the summer crowds have gone home. Winter can be surprisingly harsh, with occasional snow making the temple walk treacherous.
