Paro in August
Not the best time
August offers slightly better conditions than July's peak monsoon, but rain and clouds still dominate. It's a month for weather-tolerant travelers who appreciate empty trails and rock-bottom prices.
Weather
August continues the monsoon pattern but with slightly less intensity than July. Rain remains frequent and heavy, though brief clear periods offer glimpses of the surrounding peaks. Humidity stays high, making even moderate temperatures feel oppressive.

August Tips
- •Tiger's Nest hike is muddy and slippery - consider postponing unless you're experienced
- •Bring extra clothes as everything takes forever to dry
- •Take advantage of low accommodation rates if you don't mind the weather
All Months
March through May brings rhododendrons blooming across the mountainsides and clear views of the Himalayas. Temperatures hit a comfortable 70°F during the day, though nights can drop to 40°F. This is peak season, so expect crowds at Tiger's Nest and higher accommodation prices. September through November offers the clearest mountain views and stable weather — perfect for hiking and photography. The monsoon runs June through August, bringing heavy rains that can wash out roads and obscure mountain views. But the valleys turn emerald green, and you'll have major sites mostly to yourself. Winter (December through February) sees snow at higher elevations and freezing temperatures, but also brilliant blue skies and empty trails. Just pack serious cold-weather gear.
