Great time to visit

September is when Paro transforms from monsoon gloom to post-rain brilliance. The valley looks its most vibrant, and comfortable weather returns without full peak-season crowds.

Weather

September marks the end of monsoon season in Paro, with rainfall tapering off and clearer skies returning. Post-monsoon clarity brings spectacular mountain views, while the valley remains lush and green from months of rain. Nights become noticeably cooler and more comfortable.

September Tips

  • Early September can still have monsoon remnants - mid to late month is better
  • Photography conditions improve dramatically as skies clear
  • This is when high-altitude treks become viable again

All Months

March through May brings rhododendrons blooming across the mountainsides and clear views of the Himalayas. Temperatures hit a comfortable 70°F during the day, though nights can drop to 40°F. This is peak season, so expect crowds at Tiger's Nest and higher accommodation prices. September through November offers the clearest mountain views and stable weather — perfect for hiking and photography. The monsoon runs June through August, bringing heavy rains that can wash out roads and obscure mountain views. But the valleys turn emerald green, and you'll have major sites mostly to yourself. Winter (December through February) sees snow at higher elevations and freezing temperatures, but also brilliant blue skies and empty trails. Just pack serious cold-weather gear.
