Port of Spain in August

Not the best time

Peak wet season and hurricane risk make this the most challenging month for visitors. Only venture here if you're chasing rock-bottom prices and don't mind being rained on daily.

Weather

August typically brings the wettest conditions of the year with temperatures around 32°C and extreme humidity. Expect daily downpours and potential tropical storm activity. The heat feels more intense due to moisture.

All Months

Carnival season (January through March) is when Port of Spain becomes the center of the Caribbean universe. But here's the thing — hotel prices triple and the city goes completely mad. If you want the full cultural experience, come for Carnival. If you want to actually see the city without fighting crowds, avoid February entirely. The dry season from December through May offers the best weather — less humidity, minimal rain, and trade winds that actually provide relief. June through November brings the rainy season, but afternoon showers often clear quickly and everything stays green. Hurricane season technically runs June to November, but Trinidad sits south of the main hurricane belt. The wettest months are June and July, when flooding can shut down parts of the city. December through April also brings cooler evenings perfect for outdoor dining and street festivals. Just remember — this is the tropics, so 'cool' means 75°F instead of 85°F.
