Saint-Tropez in March

Good time to visit

March strikes a sweet spot between winter's solitude and summer's madness. The weather cooperates for sightseeing, and you can actually get a table at Café de Paris without a reservation.

Weather

March marks the real beginning of spring weather along the French Riviera. Days grow noticeably longer and warmer, though evenings still require a light jacket. Rain becomes less frequent but can arrive in heavier downpours.

March Tips

  • Restaurant terraces start reopening - perfect time for long lunches at Place des Lices
  • Hiking the coastal paths becomes comfortable again without summer's blazing heat
  • Book accommodations for summer now before prices spike in April

All Months

May through September is Saint-Tropez season, but each month has its own personality. May is lovely — warm enough for the beach but without the crowds. The town feels almost normal. June brings the film festivals and yacht shows. July and August are peak madness. Expect crowds, traffic, and prices that'll make your eyes water. But the energy is infectious and this is when Saint-Tropez truly comes alive. September is the sweet spot — still warm, fewer crowds, and locals start to emerge from hiding. The sea is at its warmest too. October can be beautiful but many restaurants and clubs close after the first week. Winter is dead quiet — most places shut down completely. If you're coming in peak season, book everything in advance. And I mean everything — restaurant reservations, beach club spots, even taxi transfers.
